Rick and Ellen Burnette

Rick and Ellen Burnette

At this special service, we will be joined by guests Rick Burnette, Domestic Disaster Response Manager at CBF; Ellen Burnette, Executive Director of Cultivate Abundance; and Ellen Sechrest, Manager of Global Missions Engagement at CBF. CHBC’s relationship with the Burnettes dates back to 2000 and our mission trips to Thailand. We plan to commit to the Burnettes in a new way by becoming an Encourager Church for them through CBF Global Missions.

Steve Clark and Annette Ellard

Steve Clark and Annette Ellard

In 2006 Steve Clark & Annette Ellard were appointed CBF Field Personnel and CHBC committed itself as an Encourager Church for them. We plan to renew this commitment as well.

CHURCH PHOTO

After worship, we will gather in the main level of the Sanctuary to take the first church-wide photo of CHBC in 8 years!

 CHURCH LUNCHEON

A church-wide luncheon, provided by some of our Karen members, will follow the churchwide photo with further sharing from our special guests. Please make plans to join us for worship, lunch, and dialogue with our missions partners!

WHAT IS A CBF ENCOURAGER CHURCH?

A congregation becomes an Encourager Church when it formalizes its relationship with specific field personnel. CBF suggests that Encourager Churches include four encouragement areas: prayer support, program support, short-term engagement, and financial support. Encourager Churches seek to deepen relationships, cultivate mutual transformation, bear a consistent witness, and focus on financial stewardship.

UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES FROM THE MISSIONS RESPONSE TEAM

Hunger Walk

The Social Justice Team and the Missions Response Team invite you to join us in this year’s Dare2Care Hunger Walk. We would like to have a team from CHBC walk together. Money raised from the walk goes to help feed the hungry throughout Kentuckiana. The Hunger Walk will be at Waterfront Park on Sunday, September 22nd @ 2:15 pm. You can sign up to donate or walk at the Louisville Hunger website, and register to join the team Crescent Hill Baptist Church. If you have any questions, please email Josh Bair at jdbair@gmail.com.

Food Drive

September is Hunger Action Month. The Missions Response Team would like for Crescent Hill to collect as many items as we can throughout the month for Dare2Care. The most needed items include peanut butter, soup, canned fruit, beans, rice, tuna, cereal, fruit juice, pasta, and canned vegetables. You can drop off donations at any time to the church office. On Sunday, October 6th, which is World Communion Sunday, we will collect all the goods donated and deliver them to the Dare2Care food bank.

Missions Response Team Meetings

The Missions Response Team meets on the 2nd Sunday of the month, in the media center (old library). In September, the team will meet on the 3rd Sunday, September 15th.
